I’ve always wanted to make a difference. Not someday, not eventually – since I was 10 years old. Helping businesses become more socially & environmentally responsible isn’t just a career choice for me – it’s a lifelong mission.
A few moments that shaped me:
1. Family values: Both my parents dedicated their work to helping others. My mum, a teacher, spent her days supporting students and staff in need. My dad, a dentist raised on Quaker principles, worked mainly in prisons, guided by fairness and social justice. Their example shaped my sense of responsibility.
2. Early exposure to inequality: At 18, I visited Mexico and Ecuador. Witnessing the stark gap between rich and poor opened my eyes to global inequality.
3. Year abroad in Mexico: I fell in love with the colours, music, art, and vibrancy of Latin America, but also saw extreme inequality. I wanted to do something about it.
4. Exploring human rights: I tried Peace Brigades International, but realised frontline work wasn’t the path for me.
5. Sustainable development studies: During my Masters in Latin American Development, a module on sustainability resonated deeply, reminding me of my childhood holidays in rural Spain and the importance of caring for nature.
6. Practical impact in Mexico: I spent 4 years supporting farmers to adopt sustainable techniques and helping women start micro-enterprises. Seeing positive, tangible change was deeply rewarding.
7. Innovation for good: Working at Innovate UK taught me how innovation can solve social and environmental challenges at scale.
Then in 2017, I discovered the B Corp movement – a perfect alignment of everything I’d learned and valued: making a meaningful difference in the world while encouraging businesses to do the same. This is why I do this work: helping people and organisations create real impact – for society, for the environment, and for future generations.
What positive impact do you want to make in 2026?
